Thanks for checking out SLUG MODE! If you've got feedback to share, we'd love to hear it.

SLUG MODE is our submission to Bigmode Game Jam 2023. Our goal was to build a game where players could experience battling a single boss across several  modes. In each mode, we wanted the visuals, audio, and gameplay to feel distinct yet connected by shifting style, tone, and genre between levels. We also wanted the boss to be a slug.

The last few weeks were challenging, but we all pushed ourselves and learned a lot. Thank you to the Bigmode team for hosting the event.

Really cool. So much style, the audio and visuals really make everything feel together even though it changes so much between modes. Wish you could tap space to make the text fully display so you can go through it a bit quicker, but that's my only criticism.

Agreed, that'd have been especially nice during testing, but we ran out of time. We're glad you enjoyed SLUG MODE!

I like the music! Wish it was louder tho, cuz it's pretty awesome!
I have a question: was the music recorded by a band during the game jam?
I'm just wondering how does someone get music recorded if they can sorta write music but don't have a band.

No, the music wasn't recorded live by a band. Nicky used  FL Studios to produce all the music during the game jam. He's the best

Take that, slug!
That was pretty fun! I loved the gameplay variety, and the window dressing was solid all around. The dating sim mode in particular had me in stitches.

So well put together

It's so polished! And funny! And somehow tonally consistent!
